About the region

Kirinyaga is located in central Kenya, at the foot of Mount Kenya, where the high altitude and the red, mineral-rich volcanic soil create an ideal environment for outstanding quality Arabica coffees. The moderate climate, balanced rainfall distribution, and carefully cultivated plantations all contribute to the clean, complex flavour profile characteristic of the region.

Kirinyaga coffees are characterised by a lively yet elegant acidity, fruity and floral aromas, and a well-structured body. It is no coincidence that the region receives significant attention in the world of specialty coffees: it consistently produces items that are simultaneously fresh, detailed, and refined, faithfully reflecting Kenya's iconic coffee character.
